Achieving peace in Turkey and Kurdistan is our top priority. We know that democratization in Turkey and freedom for the Kurdish people go hand in hand— and that enduring peace and stability in Northeast Syria requires a peaceful settlement to the Kurdish issue in Turkey. We believe that such a settlement in Turkey must involve basic protections and rights for Kurds and other minorities: mother-tongue education, decentralized local governance, and constitutional recognition of equal citizenship for all ethnicities and religions. We call on the international community to support peace, rather than offering Erdogan a blank check for war.
